After much success in Europe, I wanted to take my software to America.
|
Expanding to America was much more complicated than I thought. To qualify to do business in each state of interest, I needed a registered agent in each state, and I had to file annual registrations with each secretary of state. Sales revenue came in as U.S. currency and was forwarded to me for conversion. Payroll had to be paid in each state where an employee was based, and each state’s payroll taxes were different. Then, there were the tax returns to file and the taxes to be paid. Doing all of that from France seemed virtually impossible considering I had my hands full running the European operation.
